The music is blaring, the colored lights are flickering, and the bar is hopping. I haven’t gone out in so long that it all felt foreign to me. Still, I wanted to let loose and have a good time.
“Molly, oh my God, you have to dance with me!” Selena squealed like she had one too many drinks already. I had a couple and my head was already spinning, but part of me didn’t care at that moment.
Selena and Ruby grinded with me on the dance floor, making complete asses out of themselves. They’re wasted – beyond wasted.
I decided to let go and just dance. I swayed my hips, waved my hands up, and even let Selena and Ruby continue grinding on me. I couldn’t help laughing at their playfulness and their lack of dance skills. I yanked the hair tie off my wrist and went to throw my hair up off my neck. I was grossly sweating and was feeling extremely hot. Before I could wrap the band around my hair, a pair of strong hands gripped my waist firmly from behind me. I quickly turned my head to see Bentley dancing behind me. He also had too many shots and was ridiculously drunk.
He lowered his mouth to my ear, moving my hair out of his way. “Molly, your ass looks so fine, I just couldn’t resist letting you back it up against my hard dick.” I spun my head around, getting a better look at him. “Or we could dance this way.” He grinned, bumping his bulge towards me.
What the fuck did he just say? Am I really that drunk or did he really just say that?
“You aren’t getting anywhere near my ass, Bentley.” I shoved my hand against his chest pushing him away from me. “Go find a drunk skank and grope her instead.” I turned to walk past him, but before I could get anywhere he yanked me back by pulling on my wrist.
“Get your ass back here, Molly. You know you would like it.” He squeezed my wrist to the point where it was painful. I grabbed his hand with my other hand, but his grip was too tight and wouldn’t budge. “You aren’t going anywhere.” His eyes darkened, letting me know how serious he was.
“You’re a fucking piece of shit.” I spat, jolting my knee into his bulge that was hard and firm. His hand immediately released my wrist as he collapsed to the ground holding his now bruised goods.
“You… bitch!” he barely squealed out. His face beat red as he gasped for air. Selena and Ruby hunched over him watching him suffer. That’s what you get, asshole.
“He deserved it,” I yelled over the music. They were barely paying attention as they danced near us, but as soon as he hit the floor, they stopped wondering what the hell just happened. “I’m leaving,” I yelled again as I sprinted off the dance floor.
I went back to the booth were Ruby’s boyfriend, Leo was sitting and grabbed my bag. “Tell your douche bag of a friend to ice his junk when he gets home.” I bolted leaving him wondering until he noticed the commotion behind me.
My Review
Let me start by saying…Brooke you have done it AGAIN!!! I thought I loved Kitchen Affairs (the 1st book in the Riverside Trilogy)..but this one took the cake!! Normally, book trilogies are like movie trilogies, the second one never outdoes the first one. That is so not true in this case!!
Between the boys, the dogs, and the beautiful weather it took me a lot longer than expected to get to reading this book. But the wait was so worth it! Between the romance and the plot, I could not put this book down. Once I started reading it, I just couldn’t stop. Even to eat!! My boys were screaming about being hungry and I’m like, “Just let me finish this chapter!”
Oh yummy…Drake. I absolutely love him. He definitely ranks up there on my “Favorite Book Boyfriend” list. He is so smooth, charming, and the sex appeal just rolls off of him. Lum, Lum, Lum. It was Drake who couldn’t let me put the book down. I would end a chapter and God forbid if his name was mentioned anywhere on the next page because it was over!
I liked that Brooke gave more insight into Molly in this book. I always love that characters are explained because without that, how can you like their character?
There are so many fantastic parts in this book I couldn’t even go into my favorite. This book will send you through a warp in your mind as things begin to unravel in the lives of Drake and Molly. This book got without a doubt 5 stars. To earn a 5 star means not only could I not put the book down, but I thought about nothing else when I wasn’t able to read it. I cannot wait for book #3. The wait is already killing me!!
Don’t forget to add this to your Goodreads TBR. I am telling you that you are missing out if you do not read this book. I don’t give many books 5 stars but trust me when I say, you better get on it!

Buried Under Books

  1. I am entering on the “Buried Under Books Blog” site, but was sent here thru a post by Brooke Cumberland on facebook.
The excerpt featuring Molly's thoughts/story had me laughing just a bit. I think I would like to read this book, but wonder if I need to read the first one first. Think I'll check out KITCHEN AFFAIR befor getting into this one.

PS — One of the other blog tour 'ads' (on the left side) is over this comment box. Very difficult to know what I'm typing — and just hope I can get the submit button to work.

  2. Thank you so much for checking out my post! I did get the button fixed so it wouldn't cover up anything else. Thanks so much for the feedback!!
